What else you need to use it
Worked out from Sony’s own specifications and box contents for this model.
You need
- A headphone output: on your microphone, audio interface or mixer. They are wired headphones. Plugged into the microphone or interface, you hear yourself with no delay; plugged into the computer, you hear what it plays. Monitor without echo
In the box
- A 6.3 mm (1/4-inch) adapter for a larger headphone socket. The adapter is in the box.
When this model makes sense
- Hear yourself and the stream with no delay, plugged into your microphone’s or interface’s headphone output.
- Keep your voice clean: closed earcups stop the game and alerts leaking back into the microphone.
- Check left and right and the volume with the headphone test before you go live.
Headphones and headsets sets it beside the other models here, and monitor audio without echo shows where to plug it in.

Check these conditions first
Not yet confirmed from Sony’s documents: impedance, cable, weight. We leave them out rather than guess.
For headphones, plug them into the headphone output of your microphone or interface, where you hear yourself with no delay, and set the volume before you go live. Turn off any second copy of your voice in software, or you hear yourself twice: the headphone test’s step 3 shows it.

The diagram shows a simple USB setup. Find where the Sony MDR-7506 goes, then follow each input back to what feeds it and each output on to where it goes. HDMI and XLR gear needs a capture card or audio interface between it and your computer; it doesn’t plug straight in the way this USB example does.
Headphones plug into the headphone output of the microphone or interface in the drawing. The headphone test checks left, right and whether you hear yourself twice, and the pre-stream checklist covers the rehearsal once it is wired.
