Check each attachment separately
Read the exact equipment and mount instructions for thread size and adapters. Cameras and webcams usually use a ¼-inch thread; Facecam 4K, for example, has a ¼-inch mounting point. Microphone arms use 5/8-inch or 3/8-inch threads; Wave DX has a 5/8-inch mount and comes with 3/8-inch and ¼-inch adapters. Check your own model's page. Count the camera, lens, prompter and accessories when checking a camera support’s load.
For a desk clamp, inspect the actual edge and the manufacturer’s fit conditions before choosing it. Leave room for adjustment and cable connections. Do not assume that a clamp fitting once proves that every desk position is suitable.
Try the working position
Place the microphone within its maker’s intended speaking arrangement, then check whether the arm blocks the camera or controls. Move the camera through its useful framing positions and check that the support stays stable.
Leave enough cable slack for the allowed movement. Avoid pulling on the equipment connector when the arm moves. A mount that clears an empty desk may still interfere with the keyboard or headphones during a show. A camera behind a teleprompter adds the prompter’s glass and screen to the load: teleprompter setup checks the stand or arm for both.
Check the recorded frame and sound
Record speech and normal desk movement. Look for a shifting frame and listen for movement noise. Recheck attachment points as the maker directs. Use the microphone test and the webcam test for the signals; they do not certify the mount’s load rating.
